Adventure
Raised to be Strong
We invite you to take the opportunity to build year-round adventure in your home. A journey into the wilderness where you will encounter the natural and the supernatural mysteries of Creation. But more than that, a family begins to discover more about themselves.
As we have backpacked through Maroon Bells, Capitol Reef, and the Grand Canyon, or winter summited Colorado’s marvelous “fourteeners,” our children have discovered character virtues such as fortitude, grit, perseverance, and longanimity. Every time we reach our destination or summit, we gain a sense of wonder and satisfaction for the hard work that went into planning, climbing or orienteering.
For a journey with the family is not only about the success of the mission, but all the preparation, training, and growth along the way; where we discover more about ourselves and each other. Several of the Catholic adventure opportunities that have dramatically impacted our family and our father-son/mother-daughter relationships are included here.
Here's just a small sampling of the adventures we love to share with others.
Trail Life USA
Christ-Centered. Boy-Focused.
Trail Life USA is a Church-Based, Christ-Centered, Boy-Focused mentoring and discipleship journey that speaks to the heart of a boy. Established on timeless values derived from the Bible and set in the context of outdoor adventure, boys from Kindergarten through 12th grade are engaged in a Troop setting by fathers and male mentors where they are challenged to grow in character, understand their purpose, serve their community, and develop practical leadership skills to carry out the mission for which they were created. For more information of our local Catholic troop that focuses on adventure, character, leadership, and a Catholic identity, visit Trail Life Troop 26:26 of Colorado Springs.
Catholic Family Land
The Best Catholic Family Vacation. Ever.
What if there was a place to take your family away from the world for a few days, to reconnect with God and have fun-together? During a weeklong Catholic family camp vacation at Catholic Familyland, each member of your family will encounter an experience that makes the Faith come alive. Don’t leave God behind when you go on vacation. Instead, meet Him there. We have made this a yearly destination as our children have grown up living their faith with other families from across the country. This is one vacation destination that our children never want to pass up. For more information about an impactful family vacation go to Catholic Family Land.
Arcatheos
Answer the Call to Defend the Fate of Mankind.
Beyond the natural reaches of mortals, there exists a realm known as Lumenorus. It is here that the greatest of all battles have been fought. The realm is divided into several kingdoms, with the most sought after the Kingdom of Arcatheos. It’s main gate is protected by ArchLord Valerian and the many noble men he calls at times of greatest need to protect against the dark enemy, Reth Maloch, and his countless minions. For if these young noble men do not answer the call, the world of men would fall into darkness.
Arcatheos offers young boys an ongoing formation in the journey towards authentic manhood. A boys camp which focuses on the Cardinal Virtues, piety, knowledge and wilderness skills near the Canadian Rockies. In addition to the main camp for boys 7-12 years old, Arcatheos offers a leadership formation for boys 13-17 years old to advance into Knighthood. The aspects of clarity between good vs. evil, survival training, and leadership formation with emphasis on character; has been the most impactful witness for me that I am sending my sons to a valuable Catholic camp. For more information about an incredible father-son opportunity and this year’s camp visit Arcatheos or mother-daughter camp Captivenia.
